JOIN THE IDEA COMMITTEE'S ANTI-RACIST FILM CLUB
Our March film will be the documentary, Paris Is Burning. This documentary focuses on the drag house culture of 1980s NYC, which provided a community for the often shunned queer Black community. The documentary touches on issues of racism, poverty, and intersectionality while celebrating the independence and love borne out of the culture.
The film is available for free to students on KANOPY.com.
On March 28th, 2022 at 7:00pm we will host a panel discussion entitled INTERSECTING WHITE SUPREMACY to discuss the themes of the film. Our panelists for the evening will be the founder and Executive Director of G.L.I.T.S. Cayenne Doroshow, artist, activist and founder of The OKRA Project Ianne Fields Stewart, and Emmerita Foster, L.C.S.W., who focuses on the LGBTQIA+ community.
